Pace Law Student Awarded Internship with the
International War Crimes Tribunal for the
Former Yugoslavia (ICTY)
Annette Bertulfo, 1L, has been awarded an
internship with the International War Crimes Tribunal for the Former
Yugoslavia (ICTY) in The Hague. Annette will spend three months with
the tribunal this summer. She worked for some years with the United
Nations before coming to law school, spending one of those years in
Sierra Leone helping to set up the Special War Crimes Tribunal for
that country. Annette came to Pace with the desire to pursue this kind
of work. She was chosen through the same competitive process that was
used for other Human Rights in Action/war crimes tribunal internship
applicants, i.e., a special committee evaluated each application and
interviewed each applicant, then sent the best of those to the
tribunals. The applicants then had to pass an equally rigorous
competition in the tribunal selection process itself.
