Equipment Available for use in Classrooms

Audio/visual services are provided by the University by the Educational Media Department, and is located on each campus of Pace University, including Pace Law School.  Below, you will find a list of all available equipment installed in classrooms at Pace Law School. Ordering the use of the equipment will operate the same. To use any equipment faculty members or administrative assistants must complete the University Educational Media A/V Request Form. Even though there are installed equipment in certain classrooms it is important that an place an order with University Educational Media; that way an Educational Media technician can make sure everything is operating properly so that there is no delay in the start of a class. Portable equipment is also provided for the rooms without installed equipment. Projectors, VHS/DVD players etc. can be provided to any classroom in Gerber Glass Law Center, Preston Hall, Aloysia Hall, or the Classroom Building. EQUIPMENT AVAILABLE FOR USE IN CLASSROOMS
   
Desktop Computerer
Desktop computers contain various software applications. All EMC computers are equipped with Microsoft Office 2007 and internet access. Internet connection should be requested when needed. If a Laptop is preferred over a Desktop, EMC will try to fill your request dependent upon resources. To share a presentation with your class, an LCD Projector is needed.
Laptop Computer
Laptop computers contain various software applications. All EMC computers are equipped with Microsoft Office 2007 and internet access. Internet connection should be requested when needed. If a Laptop is preferred over a Desktop, Educational Media will try to fill your request dependent upon resources. To share a presentation with your class, an LCD Projector is needed.
LCD Projector
An LCD Projector can be used for PowerPoint and Excel presentations as well as other programs. The LCD Projector projects images onto a screen and can be used with a VCR. The LCD Projector must be accompanied by a desktop or laptop computer supplied by the user or the Educational Media Center.
Sound System
A portable sound system is suggested for audiences over 100 people. For smaller audiences a portable lectern is suggested.

 

Dual Deck DVD/VCR
A VCR (video cassette recorder) is used to play VHS tapes. The DVD may play audio CD's as well as DVD films.
Television 27"
A television is used in classrooms--usually with a DVD/VCR. For a video playback, a TV with DVD/VCR (or a room with a projector) are needed.(For use of PowerPoint see LCD Projector.)
Transparency Projector
An overhead projector is used for displaying transparencies.
Slide Projector
A slide projector is used to display 35mm slides.
Flip Chart
A flip chart is used with large flip chart paper. User supplies the paper. To order flip chart paper go to: www.CorporateExpress.com and order item number exp20010 which costs approximately $20.00.
Tape Recorder
A tape recorder plays and records on cassette tapes.
iClicker2 iClicker
A new and most of all fun way to get your students to participate in class!  iClickers provide instant feedback and answers to questions that you pose at the click of a button. For more information visit their Web site. Slide Advancer ("clicker")
This tool is used for navigating PowerPoint slides.
Audio Recording Devices (iPod/iRiver)
These devices record audible sounds in a digital format.

Wireless Microphones

Handheld: This microphone is handheld or mounted on a stand, and cordless.

Lavaliere: This microphone clips onto an article of clothing at two points, the power pack (bottom right) and the microphone (bottom left).

 

Mini-DVD Camcorder
This camera records audio and video to a mini DVD/RW.
8mm Camcorder
This camera records audio and video to a digital 8mm tape.
