Tax Alumni Come Back to the Classroom

In early October, ten Pace Law alumni returned to the classroom to speak about their careers in tax law. Nine of these alumni are former students of Professor Bridget Crawford and completed her federal tax class as students; all enjoy successful tax-related careers.  The alumni represent a range of tax practice settings – medium-sized law firms, boutique law practices, solo practice, legal publishers, accounting firms, banks and corporations.  Additionally, several of the alums have robust tax-related pro bono practices that were discussed as well.

The alumni spent the session discussing with current students how to connect what is learned in the classroom to real issues that tax attorneys face. They also provided the current students with tax-career advice.  Students and alumni alike had prepared for the special class with a set of assigned tax-related readings.  Students enjoyed learning about the exciting tax-related work that our alumni are engaging in and the students were encouraged to learn about the vast array of ways of practicing tax law.

Professor Crawford enjoys keeping in touch with her former students. “Having recently finished my thirteenth year of teaching at Pace, I realize how fortunate I am to know so many alums who are doing great work, and tax-related work in particular. Each alumnus or alumna that I contacted in putting this program together is willing and able to help our students with tax-career-related issues. This program helped connect current and past students and connected tax alumni with each other. I can’t wait to do more events like this.”
