International Judicial Institute for Environmental Adjudication (IJIEA)

The International Judicial Institute for Environmental Adjudication (IJIEA) aims to foster professionalism and effectiveness in environmental adjudication world-wide in order to strengthen the Rule of Law and further sustainable development. IJIEA is seeking institutional, organizational, and strategic partners from around the world for collaboration on its current and upcoming activities, including the development of a global directory of environmental courts and tribunals.

IJIEA, in collaboration with the New York State Judicial Institute and Pace Law School, published a special issue of the Journal of Court Innovation. The publication focuses on the current trends of the role of the judiciary in environmental law and the Rule of Law worldwide.

In cooperation with the IUCN Commission on Environmental Law, an international Steering Committee currently guides IJIEA’s programs, development, and planning. The Steering Committee consists of the Honorable Hilario G. Davide, Jr., the Honorable Merideth Wright (a judicial scholar in residence at Pace), Professor Nicholas A. Robinson, and Professor Richard Macrory.
