Programs

Pace Law School offers exceptional opportunities for students to put their legal knowledge to use in practice settings throughout the U.S. and abroad. In addition to working and studying overseas, students can hone their skills by participating in internships, externships, research projects, and moots. Furthermore, Students spend their fourth or fifth semester studying law at the University of Adelaide in South Australia, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul in Porto Allegre, Brazil, or the Universidade Federal do Pará in Belem, Brazil. Below is a list of international programs at Pace Law School.

STUDY/WORK ABROAD

  • Brazil Comparative Environmental Law Course
  • Pace's Comparative Environmental Law course gives students hands-on experience comparing the environmental regimes of the United States and Brazil. This class, offered each spring, studies the respective environmental regimes of the United States and Brazil and aims to build students' capacity to assess environmental laws and national policies concerning environmental quality. At the end of the semester the students travel to Brazil where classes continue and include seminars conducted by prominent Brazilian scholars and attorneys. Students also take field trips to view fragile, yet crucial, ecosystems of Brazil.
  • Summer Externships Abroad
    Opportunities for students to work abroad with law firms specializing in international, commercial, and corporate law.
  • International Trade Law and Externships
    Seminar students also work in New York and Westchester law firms or corporations specializing in international trade law.
  • Human Rights in Action Project
    Opportunities for students to work abroad during the summer with war crimes tribunals, human rights and humanitarian relief organizations, and projects designed to bring the rule of law to emerging democracies.
  • Study Abroad Exchange Programs
    Opportunity for students to study and live abroad through an exchange partnership agreement with a foreign institution.  Partnerships currently exist with the University of Adelaide in Adelaide, Australia and with Fundacao Getulio Vargas (FGV) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

CENTERS AND ORGANIZATIONS

  • Institute of International Commercial Law
    Premier research site for the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG) and sponsor of the Vis Moot (see below).
  • International Law Society (ILS)
    The Pace International Law Society has taken a leading role in virtually every part of the international law program, including the development of curricular offerings, the establishment of internship opportunities, and the sponsorship of many co-curricular activities.
  • Pace International Law Review
    The Pace International Law Review, edited and published by students, is devoted to the publication of scholarly materials in both public and private international law.
