The Public Interest Law Center at the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University provides career counseling specifically designed for students and alumni interested in public service positions. We provide individualized counseling sessions, resume restructure and review, cover letter assistance, and mock interviews.
The Center also provides a wide variety of resources for students to utilize in their job search. We maintain an extensive library of public service law resources including periodicals, career directories, organizational descriptions, fellowship information and applications, and student evaluations from prior public interest employment.
Haub Law students have access to multiple databases to find unpaid and paid internships and post-graduate positions in public interest work. Because the Law School is a member of PSJD, our students are able utilize the PSJD database of over 10,000 positions in public interest legal work. PSJD also provides information on summer funding sources nationwide. Students are also able to utilize Symplicity, where jobs in both the private and public sectors are advertised. Haub Law students also have access to the Arizona Government Honors and Internship Handbook. This Handbook tracks prestigious government internships and jobs available to students.
In addition to these resources, PILC regularly sends out email updates to students on noteworthy public interest positions. PILC shares information with students on clerkships, a variety of fellowships, and federal honors programs. In recent years, our students have obtained postgraduate positions at federal agencies including the Environmental Protection Agency, Nuclear Regulatory Commission, and Department of Transportation. Each year, students obtain valuable postgraduate fellowships, for example, the Immigrant Justice Corps Fellowship and Excelsior Service Fellowship.
